My Travel blog form Dubai
"So, I am from Pakistan, and I have a plane ticket to Dubai with open arms on my face. And so far, it has been worth the wait. Sure, the place is a little overrated, but that will not stop me from having an amazing time. First off, the flight was on time and did not leave me groped with a cramped seat. I was lucky enough to secure a window seat, so I got to enjoy the view of the clouds and the beautiful desert below.
As soon as we landed, I got excited because that is when it hit me: Dubai is an over-developed country full of expensive cars, tall buildings, and palm trees in every direction. I was expecting the whole experience.
At the airport I met my friend, Riham, and we hopped into a taxi. While we were on our way, I saw the Burj Khalifa for the first time in my life:
finally, we reached my hotel, which happened to be near her house. I do not know if this was fate or something, but her apartment was across the street from my hotel room. I literally saw her building from my window. Here is the view from the hotel room:
We met up on the roof of our hotel and she showed me the city lights. Dubai is very different from other cities in the world in terms of night life. Here is what Dubai looks like today.
there are a million tall buildings everywhere you go. The city is huge, and it took me forever to find my hotel room which costed 150 dirhams for 3 hours (about 10 USD). I had to wait for about a half hour outside of the huge and shining building, but it was worth it.
I found my way to the mall and explored the place. I went into many stores and tried on lots of things. There were so many gadgets and gizmos in one store that it looked big enough to be a store for toys:
There are hordes of things to do here- beaches in Dubai are not just about tanning and lounging in hammocks (although they are great for both). There are also good restaurants, good shopping malls, and beautiful hotels. Plus, everything is pretty much child friendly around here so naturally you're welcome to bring kids along! They have summer camps for the little ones during the day and plenty of activities for them at night as well. I have been enjoying my stay so far in this beautiful city.
The city itself is a little overrated but it is still a fun place to be since there's loads of fun things to do here. Just like home, Dubai is a perfect accommodation for people from all walks of life. From the super-rich to the average middle-class families and everything in between, Dubai is a melting pot of all kinds of people and lifestyles. As we all know, there is no better place for people to meet than in a great vacation spot like this. Dubai is also a great place for family vacations. The beaches are beautiful, the malls are great, and the hotels are welcoming.
The only problem is that you must be careful about drinking water though because there have been a lot of news about tainted water in hotels. So, I would go with bottled water when I'm in any other hotel.
When it comes to food, There are also lots of places to eat at, so if you're a foodie, this place will be perfect for you because whichever country u maybe from you can get your type of food here but even better than your home country you just have to be careful because there are some parts of the city that aren't as clean as they should be..
I think Dubai is more for adults and families than for teenagers. There are playgrounds everywhere so if your kids like to hang out at such places, then this is the place for you. they have grown-up stuff here too.
The only thing you should really worry about is the heat.
Whilst summer averages are reported at 45°C (113°F), it is quite typical to experience daytime maximums up to 50°C (122°F). The hottest month of the year is August in Dubai.
“Summer” in Dubai realistically runs from May until October. If you cannot take the heat, then this is not for you. But if you are someone who can handle high temperatures, then by all means, go ahead and visit this place because it is worth a try.
There are malls everywhere, so there are plenty of stores to shop at while visiting Dubai. You just have to be aware of your surroundings though because there are people who may try to steal from you here not by snatching your purse or anything but in creative ways to scam you.
There are so many things to see and do here that one can never get tired of exploring all the beauties of the city like I did.
places to visit while in Dubai:
Dubai Mall & Burj Khalifa: One of the world’s largest malls still has a huge amount going on over summer. You could literally spend a couple of days here and not run out of things to do! Sitting in the heart of “Downtown Dubai”
Mall of the Emirates: Easy to reach on the Metro (adapt name stop Mall of the Emirates), sits about 30 mins away. Mall of the Emirates is fairly close by for those staying at any of the Jumeirah Hotels and only about 10 minutes away from Dubai Marina/JBR area.
City Centre Mirdif: Situates south of Dubai city, this is a great suburban mall absolutely packed with entertainment and dining options. It’s not on the Metro so you’d need a taxi/Uber. Why not try
Times Square: A smaller community Mall that’s got a few key fun entertainment attractions for summer! You’ll find it on the Red Mtro line, (Rostamani Tower is 300m away, 4 min walk or Financial Centre Metro about 350m away 5 min walk)
