Dangers of social media for underage kids

 

Today’s world is a digital world. Unlike the olden times, everything involves and revolves around internet and its vast field and features. Basically, it was created for the exchange of information between the governments and their agencies. But now a days nobody can live without internet. Even in the very remote areas there is a facility of internet.

There are different applications and programs being used for different purposes including education, trading, games etc. etc.

Social media platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter are widely in use regardless of the age and gender of the user. In this scenario proper guidance and supervision must be provided to its users. There should be restricted and supervised usage for the underage kids.

Parents should keep an eye on their kids while using such platforms. There are many examples on Facebook that how unconsciously the underage kids provided secretive information to their online friends about their house and family resulting being robbed and even in many cases being murdered by these so-called friends. It is common now a days that users of the Facebook are uploading even their very personnel matters online as a story. People knows each details of their life.

On Instagram and snapchat is also the same thing. After these applications being introduced there is no such thing left as “Personnel” now. Everybody’s life is now everybody’s matter of interference.

 

In such condition’s parents must keep an open eye to the activities of their kids while they are using social media. Regardless of the age or gender, the underage kids have an easy access to the porn websites. They can easily gamble online and waste their and their parents’ hard-earned money online on such sites. At the age in which they must have busy in reading books and attend the school and college, they are becoming parents themselves and the victims of the online spying and the so-called online friends.

There are many cases in the western world related to the excessive use of social media platforms and its misuse. Even now in our eastern world also before approaching the age of maturity, the young and minor children lose their precious lives on the hands of social media friends.

Whole day and night they are busy on these platforms. This reduces their ability to be in contact with their physical world and their families. As a result, they are unaware of the family values and useful culture which their parents have seen in their childhood. Now they can access anything online due to these platforms.

If their parents are not aware of their activities, they cannot control their behavioral changes. In the end these underage kids are becoming criminals, sex addicts, violent and unruly creatures.

In the past our ancestors were giving good education and cultural values to their children so that they can become a useful and good citizen of their country and be a source of pride for their parents. Now a days the constant unsupervised use of the social media produces only the kids who are far away from these values and even a young and minor kid is involved in crimes. They know the use of arms and ammunition. They are not aware of the natural phenomenon; their eye sights are badly affected also.  Small children wearing glasses are a common sight now. They are far away from the physical activity like exercise, sports and jogging etc.

If they are being properly guided and supervised by their elders, then its fine but if not then the result is even much worse than our imagination. They become the victims of depression and anxiety also because they cannot channel out their mental energies somewhere else other than the social media.

So, there is a very compelling need of the supervision of the underage kids on these platforms. It’s the responsibility of both parents and the teachers to teach them good values and warn them about the dangers of such platforms if not properly used.

There is an idiom that today’s child is tomorrow’s parent so we must make it our responsibility to develop healthy use in underage kids to keep them protected from its dangers.
